BAH

Things I can't do without electricity:

-watch the cricket
-charge my phone
-have a warm shower
-check my email, bus times or blog
-turn the lights on
-listen to music
-cook food
-use the washing machine
-see the Ashes series be won 5-0 for the first time in 85 years! Or see McGrath, Langer of Warne's last test! BAH

Things I can do without electricity:

-clean my room
-write a list
-read a book
-have a cold shower
-handwash my clothes
-watch electricians install new light fittings
-sing a song
-sleep ... wait, no there's that drilling again
-daydream

Just would have been good to have more than 15 minutes warning... enough whinging...

Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt...

I went to the beach yesterday. There's this thing at cottesloe beach (see pic... i honestly don't know what it is) that people climb onto and jump off. I decided it would be fun so I swam out to it and bumped my knee. I was bruised and bleeding and I dodn't even attempt to climb the thing let alone jump off.

Note to self; just because others do it does NOT mean it is a good idea.

Oh and apparently I have friends... or stalkers. People actually look at my blog and myspace. My counters go up. That is strange to me as not many people leave comments.

Happy New Year

I usually don't make resolutions. People make resolutions for the new year because it's the new year and you 'should' (AAH! the s word!) ... so they fail.

But this year I thought that it was a good time for me to reiterate my current goals, make sure I'm heading in the righ direction, start some things kind of new, make a fresh start... all that crap.

In 2007 I want to:

  • be a better person
  • grow
  • stand up for what I believe
  • take action and take charge in my life

Happy New Year all. Make it what you want it to be.

Hopman Cup = Awesome

Courtside box! Yes that's right... I said COURTSIDE BOX! yeah!
Perth Harmony are selling pins at the Hopman cup. 50c from each pin is fundraising for the chorus and the rest goes to teacing kids at under privileged schools to play tennis. :) The Hopman cup have given us a box for one session... So perth harmony decided on that the 6 people who had put their names down for the most sessions got to have 'the box'. So Aimee and I (And some other people) get to live it up courtside yeah.

I spent two hours today trying to find white pants for the 'uniform' we're wearing! What an ordeal... I REALLY didn't want to buy white pants as they do not flatter me at all. But I ended up finding these great hippie pants that I will literally never take off! <--- ok so these kinds of jokes don't work in writing... I am aware that my use of literally here is incorrect.

Have a good one!

Cricket

Guess what? I love cricket. I love all the statistics and I admire the concentration and the skill it takes to play.
There are 79426 people watching the cricket at the MCG today!
Australia are about to bowl out England and win the 4th test... Australia have been playing well but England have not played very well consistently so it kinda makes winning (in my eyes anyway) a bit less special. I don't like a whitewash.

Something about myself that I don't understand, when it comes to sport, is that I follow a team and generally it will me my 'home' side or the Australian national side. And I get excited when they win. Why?

It's not so much the competitiveness that bothers me, but the whole national/tribal thing. I almost want not to go for Australia because I hate nationalism. I hate that we 'own' land and that we create nations. What the hell is a country anyway? Stupid power hungry humans...

My number one best friend

Personal joke for Mrs Aimee... who really is the bestest. *love*

On my first Christmas away from my family I was kindly 'adopted' by Aimee and Michael and tagged along to their family celebrations where I was welcomed like part of the family and fed food and beverage until I almost exploded.

Now to sit back, relax and watch the cricket. NICE.

I've been told

Good thing I'm in a blogging mood this morning Kel... otherwise.. oooohhh. HAHA

HAPPY CHRISTMAS ALL! HAPPY CHANNUKAH TOO...

I hope that this time of year is as painless as it possibly can be for you. As happens so often someone takes a nice sentiment and turn it into a horrible commercial monster! I watched the news the other day and some person was saying how much australians are going to be spending at Christmas... WOW! It breaks a record; it is disgusting!

I fortunately have managed to avoid the crowds and mayhem of this particular festive season... although I am about to go down to Target to buy a last minute pressie for the kids I look after... that may be less then enjoyable.

Anyway, enough bah humbug. Enjoy your holidays :)
Try to spread some happiness, peace and love.

Random Random Five... the boys

Welcome to my current musical selection; carefully hand picked for you by itunes!
There is a definate ex boyfriend theme to this one.

Eminem – Lose yourself

Ok I like rap… and eminem is pretty cool. I used to hate him and argue with my boyfriend about how horrible he was, until he made me actually listen to the lyrics (pumping from the speakers that would rattle the number plate of his Ford Lazer) and decide for myself. Yeah not for young people really cos they mistake the messages…
This song is from 8 mile which is a pretty horrible movie but the rapping is great and the message is typical of eminem, dark, real and actually strangely inspirational.

Into the woods – Finale

I’m not the biggest Sondheim fan… but I do like 'Into the woods'. I suppose this dispels the idea that you either love Sondheim or hate it. This musical is actually very funny and clever. The best part has to be the princes’ duet ‘Agony’… especially if the princes are being played by rather attractive men. Hot + talented and one is a bass!! aaaahhh
Anyway, this song is just the end of the show and not worth listening to on its own.

Exit music for a film – Radiohead (OK computer)

This is the only radiohead album I have as it was the only one I really got into. My boyfriend when I was 14 listened to a lot of radiohead and this song reminds me of him and ‘gatherings’ of around that time… ah the memories. I like this song it is solemn and a bit deranged… like radiohead tends to be sometimes.

You’re nobody ‘till somebody loves you – Spebsqsa (2003 top twenty quartets)

Ok the sentiment is horrible… and it’s not a particularly good recording. Barbershop is best live and only sometimes is really good recorded as you lose the overtones. And that my friends, is what barbershop is all about. I was introduced to BBS by my ex and fell in love with the artform when visiting this bunch of guys who he used to sing with. There are some really nice chords in this one… but hey, what do you expect from an international top 20 quartet. Funny story Spebsqsa stands for Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America, Incorporated Woah! Maybe it is now called barbershop harmony society because they thought the original name was too cumbersome… really??
ok maybe not that funny… but true.

There is life outside your apartment – Avenue Q (Original Braodway Cast)

There are some very funny lines in this song although it is not one of the funniest songs in the musical. THe musical is kind of like an M rated Sesame Street. I saw it on Broadway a few years ago when I went to the USA with boy and family.. but that’s another story. I really hope it comes to Australia… a very very amusing night out.

Oh what a beautiful Morning – Oklahoma!

I think Oklahoma! is probably one of the best known musicals and this song is probably one of the best known songs from musical theatre... even though those singing, whistling or humming it may not even know where it is from. Yay. Happy days.

I apologise for the lack of pretty pictures... I pretty much just can't be bothered, also it annoys me when I don't seem to be able to format it properly.
